Penina Farm

The lands of the current farm belonged to an estate that was divided into several farms, including Quinta Rosa de Lima (where the current Qta. da Penina is located), which in the 40s/50s produced grapes and vinified wines in the property's cellar.

The owners at that time had a commercial warehouse opposite the fish unloading pier in Portimão where they sold a large part of their wine to fishermen and other workers linked to the fishing and fish canning industries.

With the division of the estates by several heirs, the vineyards of Quinta Rosa de Lima were replaced by citrus fruits until the year 2000, the year in which our company leased the land and planted new varieties in this terroir so traditional and typical of the Algarve (“Tradition ”).

Palmeirinha Farm

Quinta da Palmeirinha is located on the border between the municipalities of Lagoa and Silves. It is planted with the Portuguese red varieties Negra Mole, Castelão, Aragonez, Touriga Nacional and Alicante Bouschet and the white Crato Branco, in an area of 8.7 hectares of sandy soils.

It is located near Lagoa in an area called "Lobito" where vineyards are reported to have existed since the time when the Phoenicians and Carthaginians arrived on the Algarve coast. There are records of the existence of vines and wine production on this farm since the end of the 19th century. Currently, the Negra Mole grape variety is still maintained, probably the oldest vine in the Algarve (planted in 1942) still in economic production.

It was at Quinta da Palmeirinha that a group of farmers founded the future Adega Cooperativa de Lagoa in the 1950s. cooperative.

On this farm is the 18th century Ermida da Palmeirinha, where services were held until the mid-70s. Due to its rural location, it was the center of manifestations of faith, with processions to "ask for rain" or to thank you for the good harvests. .
